Ananya Dasmahapatra is a distinguished educator, visionary entrepreneur, accomplished international classical dancer, and passionate advocate for women’s empowerment, born and raised in the small village of Mohanpur in the Paschim Medinipur district of West Bengal, India. Her inspiring journey is defined by resilience, determination, creativity, cultural commitment, and an unwavering desire to create meaningful opportunities for others. Her parents, Atin Dasmahapatra and Jayashree Dasmahapatra, instilled in her the enduring values of hard work, integrity, compassion, perseverance, and self-belief from an early age. Today, her husband, Shyamapada Sahoo, remains her greatest source of strength, whose unwavering love, encouragement, and steadfast support have accompanied her through every achievement, challenge, and transformative chapter of her life.
From childhood, Ananya nurtured a profound passion for academics and the performing arts. Alongside earning her Master’s degree, she pursued professional training in Classical Music, Rabindra Sangeet, Rabindra Nritya, and Bharatanatyam, enriching her artistic expression and deepening her connection with India’s diverse cultural heritage. She further completed certifications in Abacus Education, Makeup Artistry, and School Teacher Training, reflecting her commitment to continuous learning, professional excellence, and multidimensional growth. She firmly believes that education, culture, creativity, and self-reliance together form the foundation of a truly empowered individual.
Just as her professional journey was progressing with promise, life presented Ananya with one of its most formidable challenges. She was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH), a rare neurological disorder that gradually affected her eyesight. Although there is no permanent cure for the condition, she refused to allow adversity to define the boundaries of her life. Instead, she made a powerful promise to herself—to continue searching for light even during life’s darkest moments. Her extraordinary resilience transformed a deeply challenging chapter into a source of strength, purpose, and renewed determination.
Driven by a vision to create meaningful educational and entrepreneurial opportunities, Ananya established Ana Knowledge Arena Private Limited. In May 2023, under this organisation, she launched ANABACUS, an educational initiative dedicated not only to enhancing children’s cognitive development but also to creating meaningful employment and entrepreneurial opportunities for women. Through this initiative, numerous women have developed their skills and moved towards greater financial independence. Her vision is to expand this impact further by empowering many more women to become confident, capable, financially independent, and self-reliant contributors to their families and communities.
The year 2024 became a remarkable milestone in Ananya’s artistic journey when she proudly represented India at the Bangladesh International Dance Festival, where she received the Best Dancer Award. For her, this recognition represented more than a personal accomplishment; it was a meaningful opportunity to represent India’s rich artistic traditions and cultural heritage on an international platform. However, the same year also brought one of the most emotionally devastating chapters of her life. Four months into her pregnancy, she lost her unborn child, while her neurological condition worsened once again. Despite experiencing profound personal grief, Ananya chose to rise again with the unconditional support of her husband, family, and her own remarkable inner strength. The experience strengthened her belief that even the most painful chapters of life can become foundations for extraordinary courage and renewed purpose.
On 22 January 2025, Ananya fulfilled another cherished dream by establishing Ana Kids, a preschool dedicated to nurturing young minds through quality education, cultural values, character development, and holistic growth. Ana Kids reflects her vision of creating an enriching environment where children can learn with curiosity, grow with confidence, and develop strong ethical and cultural foundations. Her long-term vision is to transform Ana Kids into a full-fledged educational institution that harmoniously combines academic excellence with Indian heritage, traditional values, ethics, compassion, creativity, and responsible citizenship.
With a strong mission to promote women’s financial independence and entrepreneurship, Ananya also founded Boutique–Ana, an initiative designed to provide women with opportunities to showcase their creativity, develop sustainable livelihoods, strengthen their entrepreneurial abilities, and establish their identities with confidence and dignity. Built around the belief that every woman deserves an opportunity to discover and realise her potential, Boutique–Ana aims to become a powerful platform where women’s talent, creativity, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit can flourish. Her dream is to make Boutique–Ana a meaningful space where women can build their identities, achieve financial independence, and shine with confidence.
Another significant milestone in Ananya’s artistic journey came on 26 June 2026, when she participated in the International Dance Festival 2026 at the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Odissi Research Centre, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Performing on such a prestigious international platform alongside distinguished artists from different parts of the world was an unforgettable honour. The experience further strengthened her dedication to preserving, celebrating, and promoting India’s rich classical dance heritage while contributing to cultural exchange and artistic dialogue across communities.
Ananya’s contributions to education, women’s empowerment, culture, entrepreneurship, and social development have been recognised through several prestigious honours. She received the Bharat Ratna Gaurav Puraskar and the National Administrator Award from the National Education Forum. She was also honoured internationally by Global Empire Limited at the University of Oxford (Keble College, O’Reilly Theatre) on 31 August 2025 for her contribution to women’s empowerment. In addition, she has been honoured with distinguished recognitions including the Ananya Samman, Doshobhuja Samman, and the Natya Mohini Award, recognising her contributions to education, culture, and society.
Beyond her professional, entrepreneurial, educational, and artistic pursuits, Ananya is also a co-author of the book “Women Empowerment and Economic Developments,” written in collaboration with 51 co-authors and currently available on Amazon. Her participation in this collective literary endeavour reflects her continued commitment to contributing meaningful perspectives to conversations surrounding women’s empowerment, economic development, education, and social progress.
Every challenge Ananya has encountered has strengthened her conviction that adversity is not the end of a journey—it can become the beginning of a greater purpose. She believes that when a woman stands confidently on her own feet, she does more than transform her own life; she inspires countless others to dream bigger, believe in themselves, overcome limitations, and pursue meaningful success.
Today, Ananya Dasmahapatra is recognised not only as an educator, entrepreneur, and international classical dancer, but also as a determined woman committed to creating opportunities, empowering communities, advancing women’s financial independence, nurturing young minds, promoting education, celebrating India’s cultural heritage, and upholding the timeless values of humanity and compassion. Her journey stands as a powerful testament to the transformative strength of courage, determination, perseverance, education, and purpose. She continues to believe that true success becomes meaningful when it creates a positive impact beyond oneself.
“No matter how big your dream is, with courage, determination, and perseverance, one day it will become reality.”
