On the occasion of International Women’s Day, we celebrate the inspiring work of Neera Paritosh, an educator, author, and thought leader who is transforming the way society understands parenting through her powerful initiative “Parenting the Parent.”

Neera believes that becoming a parent is often considered a natural step in life, yet many people overlook a crucial truth — a child develops into a healthy and confident individual only when the parents themselves are emotionally aware and balanced. In many societies, marriage followed by having children is often treated as a panacea — a magical solution for life’s challenges. However, Neera highlights that parenting requires deep self-reflection and emotional healing.

Through decades of observation and experience, she realised that many behavioural patterns in children originate from unresolved emotional wounds carried by parents themselves. When parents unknowingly pass on their fears, frustrations, or unhealed experiences, these patterns can affect the emotional well-being of their children. According to Neera, children are not meant to become replicas of their parents but unique individuals with their own identities and purpose.

After nearly thirty years of reflecting on the root causes of children’s behaviour, she concluded that a significant part of it often stems from the environment created by parents. This realization led her to create the powerful initiative “Parenting the Parent,” a concept that encourages parents to first work on themselves in order to raise emotionally healthy children.

Her philosophy is simple yet transformative — if one generation consciously works on their personal growth, the next generation can grow into stronger, more compassionate individuals.

Neera emphasises that the first step toward learning and transformation is acceptance. Many people assume they already know enough about life and parenting, but in reality, there are many emotional and psychological aspects that often remain unexplored. Without addressing these areas, parents may unintentionally repeat the same patterns they experienced in their own childhood.

To spread awareness about mindful communication and emotional intelligence, Neera authored her first book “Ripple of Words.” In this book, she explains how the words children hear from parents and their environment deeply influence their personality and emotional development. Words have the power to motivate, inspire, or discourage, and therefore parents must be conscious about what they say and how they communicate.

Her second book, “Parenting the Parent,” further explores the complex relationship between generations. In this work, she reflects on the mindset of earlier generations and explains how misunderstandings and unspoken expectations often create emotional gaps between parents and children.

Building upon these ideas, she developed a transformational program called “Better You, Better Child.” This 15-day self-development program features short daily recordings of 10–15 minutes designed to help parents reflect on their thoughts, behaviour, and communication patterns. The program aims to create deep personal awareness that ultimately benefits the emotional growth of children.

The audio-visual version of “Ripple of Words” is available on her official website parentingtheparenting.com, where individuals can explore her work and learn more about mindful parenting practices.

Neera is also actively engaging audiences through social media. Her Instagram channel (@neeraparitoshofficial) now features more than 150 thoughtful recordings, each encouraging listeners to reflect on life, relationships, and parenting. She also shares similar content across Facebook and YouTube, where her discussions and podcasts inspire meaningful conversations about personal growth and emotional awareness.

One of her most insightful discussions is a two-hour podcast with Rishi Jha on YouTube, where she explores parenting, emotional intelligence, and self-reflection in depth. The conversation offers powerful insights for anyone willing to look at parenting from a new perspective.

Neera strongly believes that the values shaping the future of society begin at home. When parents cultivate empathy, kindness, and selfless service, these qualities naturally develop in children as well. By encouraging individuals to recognise their limitations and adopt new approaches to parenting, she hopes to contribute toward building a more compassionate society and a stronger nation.

Academically, Neera Paritosh holds a strong foundation in education. She completed her Graduation (B.Com.), Post-Graduation (M.Com.), B.Ed., and later M.Ed., while teaching senior classes XI and XII in one of the country’s most reputed schools. However, her deeper calling led her toward writing, mentoring, and sharing her ideas with a wider audience.

Her journey of influence also extends to public platforms. To inspire others and represent confidence and individuality, she participated in the VG Miss and Mrs India beauty pageant, where she was awarded Second Runner-Up in one of the categories, adding another dimension to her inspiring journey.

Driven by curiosity and purpose, Neera constantly asks herself a powerful question — “What next?” This mindset of continuous growth fuels her mission to inspire parents to become better versions of themselves so that future generations can thrive.

Through her books, programs, and digital platforms, Neera Paritosh continues to guide individuals toward conscious parenting, self-awareness, and emotional transformation. Her work stands as a reminder that when parents grow, children flourish — and when families flourish, society becomes stronger.
